What are the commonest areas for Botox injections?
By far the most common sites are the frown between the eyes and the crow’s feet. Some prefer to have one area done over the other and for a number of individuals their crow’s feet are not as prominent as the central frown lines between the eyes. Individuals also like having the upper horizontal frown lines injected.

Some clients find Botox injections painful? Is there anything that can be done to minimize this?
Nobody likes discomfort and for some individ- uals botox injections can be slightly painful. We use the smallest needles available and typically I pinch the area before I inject to minimize the pain. For some individuals we apply the topical anesthetic Maxilene onto the areas 20 minutes before I inject and this virtually eliminates any discomfort. Please let us know if you would like to have the Maxilene applied before your injection.

How much improvement can I expect from a Botox injection?
Every individual is different and therefore I attempt to create a template of injection sites to individualize the treatment to maximize the result and minimize the cost for each client. Typically clients have 80-90% relaxation although some individuals may have 100% relaxation. The degree of relaxation may vary from one Botox injection visit to the next but usually is somewhere in that range. If after 2 weeks we have not achieved at least 80% relaxation we will inject additional Botox at no charge to you in order to achieve that desired result.

How safe is Botox?
Botox has been used for over 20 years in clinical practice and is now used in a variety of specialties. In the millions of clients that have been injected there have never been any long term problems in any individuals who have received Botox. Allergan Pharmaceutical Company is the largest supplier of Botox. The fact that it is the most common cosmetic procedure attests to its safety and effectiveness.

What other regions do you inject Botox?

Botox can be injected in the bunny lines on the nose, under the eye to open the eyes more when you smile, for “gum show” to lower the upper lip to a “normal” position, as well as in the chin to smooth out pronounced dimpling in this area. One of the other common uses for Botox is for people who sweat too much partic- ularly in the underarms. In the underarm area Botox injections typically have an effect that lasts for 6 months or more.

I find I have no headaches since receiving Botox injections, is this possible?
Many of our clients find that their headaches disappear after receiving Botox. As the Botox relaxes the muscles of frowning it will often relieve muscle tension headaches. Individuals with Migraine headaches frequently benefit from Botox injections also. There are currently ongoing clinical trials to determine its effectiveness in Migraine sufferers. As the Botox wears off many individuals feel their headaches returning.
