Mole Removal
Moles may be present at birth or occur as one ages. They are for the most part benign although some moles can be malignant in nature. When they occur on the face or neck they can be unsightly and interfere with the application of makeup or wearing of jewelry. While there have been many advances in laser technology, the best treatment for moles is surgical removal. This can be done either by using a punch biopsy (looks like a very small cookie cutter) or scalpel excision. This will depend on the size and location of the mole itself. The treatment selected by the specialist is designed to offer the best possible surgical scar. Local freezing is done prior to removal to minimize any discomfort during the procedure and sutures are used to secure the site once the mole has been excised. The sutures are typically removed 1-2 weeks later depending on the site. The cost of mole removal is $500 + HST for the first mole and $100 + HST for each additional mole thereafter to a total of 5 moles for each scheduled appointment.
